Commercial Vehicle Accidents

MARTA bus fails to yield and injures motorcyclist

There are reasons for the various traffic laws in Georgia. Many may seem tedious or pointless, but they are in place to keep drivers safe. People may be able to get away with breaking them from time to time, like rolling through a stop sign or running a red light, but these drivers are taking big risks. These risks can turn into needless car accidents and people suffer significant injuries as a result.

Recently the bus driver of a MARTA bus failed to yield and struck a motorcyclist as a result. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital to treat his injuries which included a broken leg. The injuries are believed to be non-life threating, but they will still be an issue for the motorcyclist. The bus driver was ticketed for failure to yield as a result of his actions.

While all drivers need to follow the laws, it is even more important for commercial vehicle drivers to obey the laws, especially bus drivers. Buses are so much larger than most other vehicles on the road that they can cause significant damage and catastrophic injuries to both the other drivers and passengers on the bus.

The motorcyclist in the commercial vehicle accident above is very lucky if the extent of his injuries is only a broken leg. This is not to belittle the injury though because even a broken leg can require surgeries, rehab and missed time at work depending on what the victim does for employment. Also, the passengers are lucky they were safe as well. This is not always the case.

Many people ride the busses in Georgia each day. The drivers of these busses have a great responsibility to ensure they are obeying the laws and driving safely. When they do not accidents can happen and many people can be significantly injured as a result. The victims of these accidents may be entitled to compensation for their injuries though. That can be extremely valuable as they recover from their injuries. It is important that the victim receives the proper compensation though and experienced attorneys may be able to protect their rights.
